Shooting Workouts
The shooting workout is a multi-week program for one-hour sessions that focus purely on shooting mechanics. These training sessions provide structured, progressive and repetitious instruction utilizing the results of proven successful shooters that is varied for boys and girls.
Some of the elements of shooting that are focused on are:
- Shooting efficiency (taking out all wasted motion in the shot leading to a quicker release and more consistency)
- Catch and shoot (release the ball faster and with more consistency by understanding proper techniques to the catch and shoot)
- Catch and square (teach players how to catch and square up helping them establish correct pivot foot and load their legs for their shot and a explosive 1st step)
- Creating space out of triple threat (making more efficient moves out of triple threat / creating space out of triple threat in the form of step backs and dribble moves / reading the defense out of triple threat / keys to making you hard to guard).
The program is all about constructing or reconstructing players shooting mechanics. This means that players often have to break old developed poor habits by many repetitions with Jason’s assistance and by themselves (just working with Jason is not enough). These shooting workouts are 5-10 weekly, one hour, training sessions which will leave the player with a number of drills to practice and a shooting workout that should be done at game speed on a daily basis. It takes over 20,000 repetitions to learn a new behavior so players need to take home what they are given and practice daily. It is impossible to break poor practiced habits on a 1 time per week workout. In the learning phase percentages may drop at first before they improve dramatically. However just developing the right frame of mind can improve a player’s percentage almost overnight. If you are ready to become a great shooter let’s get started.
The shooting workout is a multi-week program that starts with the very basics and develops into more complex shooting mechanics that are transferred into game situations. Players are instructed on how to recognize good and bad form when viewing others shots. The class will meet a total of 5-10 weeks, 60 minutes weekly, with a maximum of only 12 players. The workouts require much concentration and a hungry desire to develop into a great shooter.
