The system starts by developing a solid foundation and reinforcing proper posture and alignment for players new to OtterBasketball Training. This program is progressive in delivery and gives students drills (demonstrated and instructed by Jason on video) that need to be performed daily so that players can maximize their development. Players often want overnight success and through this program improvement will occur almost overnight but must be performed with attention to detail.
Students must not only work hard but also study the information presented by Jason for maximum results. It is important that players understand that in order to reroute muscle memory and maximize their potential it will take repetition with proper mechanics and this program will lay out exactly how to accomplish that task.
As the program progresses from foundation to straight line movement students will be taxed mentally to hold themselves accountable for execution as Jason points out key aspects to every drill in this developmental system. Once the students advance through the program into change of direction, OtterBasketball will then begin preparing them for basketball concepts that will give them a competitive advantage against the competition. Too often players try to go directly to advanced concepts but have flaws in movement that prevents them from truly reaching their full potential.
As the system progresses it will continue to build off of their foundation and will follow OtterBasketball’s idea of Continuity of Principle application. With a variety of drills in all aspects of the game the program may be broken up in-season so that players can scale back their workouts in the rigors of the season. As players move through the program workouts progressively become more intense and incorporate more advanced concepts with tutorials teaching different concepts in game situations. Jason finds that many times players make the game too difficult by putting themselves in bad situations. These workouts will make practice hard so the game is easy and teach concepts that simplify the game by reinforcing the idea that less is actually more. The early parts of the workouts for "advanced" students will again focus on OtterBasketball’s idea of deliberate practice principles inside the efficiency and familiarity of movement concepts.
Jason or his staff will be available to answer questions within the system via email or through the system. Upon registration, players will receive an email that will ask them detailed questions about their experience with the OtterBasketball program. Once we have received the information we then analyze the data and place the student in the proper development channel.
